Coaches Corner 2010
Welcome! Paddles up? Huki!....Lets all pull together and make this program run smooth like the wa'a. Canoe's are clean and ready to go! Kikaha O Ke Kai canoe club continues to maintain and perpetuate the Hawaiian culture through the promotion of competitive and recreational outrigger canoe paddling for youth, family, and the community. First things first get as much paperwork done as possibly,(membership forms & insurance ect.). Before we get on the water i like to welcome paddlers and introduce our coaches and go over protocols; club rules & expectations, canoe safety, teamwork and canoe parts. I'm putting together another coaching handout but not handing it out all at once. Our first couple months of practice be focusing on technique and working on building our endurance training zones 1-3. Building a solid base is key for up coming workouts. Coaches will help go over some bases. Also posted below are some paddling terms in Hawaiian.
